Trump tariffs can benefit India (File )
Only a few days prior to US President Donald Trump's tariff declaration, the first BTA meeting between India and the US took place. Bilateral trade between the two nations is likely to grow from USD 190 billion to USD 500 billion by 2030. The relations between India and the US have improved over time since US President Bill Clinton made the first visit to India during the Vajpayee regime. After this, be it George Bush or Obama or Trump himself and Joe Biden, India and America have always had warmth in their relations.
Whether it is a business relationship or concerning the defense sector. Amidst all this, US President Donald Trump recently imposed retaliatory tariffs on 60 nations of the world, including India, at 4 pm on April 2 (US time). US President, while declaring the reciprocal tariff, termed India a "very very tough partner". Trump labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a wonderful friend but said, "But you're not treating us properly." Following this, he placed a 25 percent tariff on India's automobile sector and 26 percent on all other products. Now the question remains if India would be hurt by this mutual tariff or if India would benefit from it more than the loss?
On April 2, Donald Trump put tariffs on 60 nations, and India was among them too. Although Trump declared a 26 percent tariff on India, he applied a 34 percent tariff on China. Amid all this, there was a warm atmosphere between China and the US, and on the following day China declared a 34 percent tariff on all US goods. And now the impact of all this has begun to surface on the businesses operating in China.
